Josh, is this show open to any era of warfare or is it more WWII and Civil War?

AirCommando,
Definitely open to ALL eras. The Museum is planning to cover all aspects of US military history. But there may not be modern items (per say) in the reenactment/collection areas on display at the show, although we're hoping to have some Nam stuff. As we get closer, maybe that will change and we can get some more modern items...
We would love to have modern collectors out there too. They'll be vendors/things there for you as well. They'll be figure contests too and we need you guys to come through for us... I collect modern as well, but I'm mostly a WW2 guy, so I won't have much to add in the modern aspect.
Thanks for the interest. Hope to see you there.

Great... I'm looking forward to seeing some more modern stuff at the show. I think that we'll have all eras covered in the dealer areas, but hope to see some cool modern stuff on display.
It's going to be a lot of fun. I'll look for you guys there...

nomelrw and all others,
I'll do my best. The show is June 14th and 15th at the Holiday Inn West... On the Waterway, Myrtle Beach, SC.
We've got a few weeks left till the show. It may not be the biggest show, but it's going to be fun. Keep in mind, it's all to raise funds for the 'Diorama' Museum. Bobby's really trying to go all out. There's a conventioneers package available too, which will feature custom items as well as a free gift from New Line miniatures, t-shirt, personalized dog tags to name a few, all packaged in a real ammo can.
We're going to have 1:1 displays as well as 1:6th huge dioramas. From Civil war to Nam will be in Diorama form as part of the Museum display, as well as figures from all eras. Other people are bringing figures/dioramas from all eras to display as well. Vendors are looking pretty good, again, all eras will/can be found within the vendor area. Check out the site for more details.
There's going to be a prize wheel, get a spin for each donation made to the museum. I think conventioneers get 1 spin with the package. It's not going to be a lot of $ per spin. But you can win accessory sets, to custom half tracks to boxed figures. No junk on the wheel either, all usable items.
There's also seminars about photographing your figures to seminars about weathering hosted by Graham of New Line Miniatures. I think Graham has some 'special' things in mind for the 1st group of people who sign up for the seminar.
We have reenactors attending, to show off their original militaria. Were even working on getting a civil war cannon firing demonstration, if we can get the logistics figured out...
We're also really trying to get local people who don't know about the hobby to attend to see what the hobby and the Museum is all about. We'll have a 'new to the hobby' area for kids to get 'cheap' items to get them involved too, to keep this great hobby going.
So if you're able to, definitely stop by and show Bobby some support. Again, all info is at the website:
www.mbonesixth.com
Hope to see everyone there. If you can't make it we'll have plenty of pics.

Great show...
These guys put in a tremendous amount of work to put this show on. Incredible dioramas and some great vendors. Cory and Mike helped relieve my wallet of some 1/6th funds I had been saving up. Grahm from Newline gave us a demonstration on how to put on boots and uniforms. Then he gave us all the gear. Thanks again.

Re: Upcoming show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!!!!! NEW UPDATES...
Hey Punisher2-2. Welcome to NC...
I'm not sure if Bobby's gonna do a show this year. We've been trying to talk him into it. I think the turn out last year really was upsetting for him. And unfortunately with this economy, not sure if he wants to take the hit financially again.
But you never know. If he decides to do it again, we'll definitely post it here. Thanks for the interest.

Re: Upcoming show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!!!!! NEW UPDATES...
Building up show customer base is certainly a long process, first show is a bad indicator of how good or bad show really is - did retailers promote the show through their customers? Unfortunately, we are simply too far from NC - not that it's not possible, but with all the costs involved (hotel for at least one day, at least two day van rent, gas, food, cost of tables and everything else) it would only make sense to come only to a large show... Maybe it would make more sense to make a small show - something what we have in CT, conference room in hotel with tables for dealers (maybe a few nicely presentation tables from larger producers/distributors such as Merit/Caltek/Sideshow if they want to cheap in and cover small portion of the show?)
I do agree though, we badly need a good large WOH-type show somewhere here on the East Coast. Now who's willing to step up to the task and organize it all?

Re: Upcoming show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!!!!! NEW UPDATES...
The turn-out was fairly low which was sad because the show was really nice. I don't blame them for not doing it again. There just does not seem to be that many fans on the East coast. Some type of unified effort does seem like a good idea.

Re: Upcoming show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!!!!! NEW UPDATES...
Would be great to have more shows in the area. I asked about some interest in putting one on in the Ft. Benning area. I would have scheduled it with some firepower and graduation demonstrations on Benning. Would have been cool.
Well if you are in the Columbus Georgia area drop in. I have 3 - 4 dioramas set up all the time and about 60+ figures on display for sael (mostly modern, half boxed half custom done by me). I'm also trying to bring on a spare parts section.

Hey Josh, is the link you posted for the website correct? When I click on it, there's no site there... I'm definitely interested in attending...

Re: Upcoming show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!!!!! NEW UPDATES...
That link was for last years show. I missed it because we were out of town. Only a two and a half hour drive for me. I've seen Bobby twice since then. I know the economy has taken a toll on all of us. There are several collectors here in SC from Charleston to Anderson and in between. Hopefully we can get something in the works again. Maybe a get together. The Southeastern Toy Soldier show is coming up August the 8th, 2009. Mostly minatures, 1/32, 1/18 and some 1/6th. I know of two loose parts sellers that have signed up for the show already. I'll post more on it later in a seperate thread. Bobby we are thinking about you and the diorama museum.
