How many men to a HUMVEE?

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering how many guys would actually crew a HUMVEE? I'm figuring an M1114, with the MK19 on the roof. Would they seat a full 4, plus the gunner?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Normal for the Marines on transport/security details is a 4 man crew, driver, commander, gunner and radio

For the MP's and Infantry units I have served with it was 3 Standard. Driver, Gunner and TC (vehicle commander) after that it would just depend on unit mission or SOP.

Somewhat related--on a standard Humvee (gun on top, no up-armoring or any modifications), how many people maximum can it fit? I.E. not a regular manning of a Humvee, something like an emergency situation when you get out of the AO and load the wounded, etc. into Humvees.

In a situation like that, can the general-purpose/standard version Humvee possibly fit 8-10 people?

8-10 - No. Not unless it is the transport variety, but you asked about gun on top.

1 Gunner 4 seats. After that you usually will have so much kit (ammo, gear, med bag etc) that you would be hard pressed to get any more troops in.

Another exception would be the GMV's that SF uses. As you can see in many of the various pics on the net, these trucks are set up as a mix of the standard 4 seater HMMWV with a cargo area in the rear. Usually there is an additional weapon mounted at the rear. In effect you could carry an additional 4 persons in the rear but once again with all the kit needed for their missions and SOP it seems they are at times hard pressed to even get the rear gunner back there.
