M1956 Butt Pack Adapter Straps
Can anyone show me how the butt pack adapter straps connect to the suspenders. Here are photos, including one showing how the adapter connects to the butt pack itself.
Thanks in advance.

This picture from from Vietnam Gear website shows the adapter in use.
"The National Archives
A Special Forces SFC uses field pack adapter straps to wear a butt pack on his back, thus allowing him to carry a position locator (Man Pack) on his belt and suspenders."

I think I have it figured out... that is how to attach the adapter straps to the suspenders. Here is a diagram I put together.

JTFazz, I was thinking about it after I made my post and the way you show it is how I was thinking it should attach. Nice job on the diagram as well, a visual reference is always better then sometimes trying to explain it.

Nice work on that illustration, this is a piece of gear I wasn't aware of. I wonder if it was used much by grunts, or was a more specialised item?

Since nobody has said anything, I had to join. Waited for over 48 hours to post.
#1: why don't you show the adapter fully attached to pack? The section with US has slots for the pack's keepers/clips to slide into attaching it to pack
#2: the diagram is wrong. The straps go through the web keeper, down through the metal loop and back through the web keeper. Just like the sleeping bag carrier setup.
If you don't want the pack flopping around on your back, run the suspender's rear straps between the adapter and pack. That way the pack won't hit your head if you have to hit the dirt. Just like the WWII paratroopers had to do with the musette bag.

Dang, I thought at least I'd get a "Thank you" post.
Some folks that have a butt pack adapter, don't know what they've got.
I've seen them sold as "sleeping bag carriers". The US/keeper section is used as a handle.
