What-ever happened to Delta from 1993-2004ish?
So I was looking at the recent influx of Deltas, the OGS deltas from some companies and the new bashes created in the wake of MW3.
Now, before the influx of releases I had been thinking that the most "recent" delta I can think of was the SS 1st SFOD figure which could still be found on the shelves when I started this hobby.
But besides that, I don't remember any other figures from any other company in the 2008-2011 time-frame.
I do think that it was mainly due to OPSEC and lack of available info after that, so does anyone know what should Deltas be kitted out like from 1995-2005?.
The pics I've seen suggest either Desert or Woodland BDU's, and a black vest, which is pretty much what we have with the OGS Deltas...
But firearms? brain buckets?
Unlike NavSpecWar units wich adopted AOR and the like, can anyone suggest what would a Delta use say, on the 2003 Iraq war- Today?
Thanks...

Re: What-ever happened to Delta from 1993-2004ish?
I'm a little confused as to what era you want. Are you looking for 1995-2005 or 2003 and on?
Delta has a lot of leeway in their equipment. I have seen anything from custom LBV's, Paraclete armor vests & pouches and load bearing harnesses. DCU's were worn by Delta in Iraq. I think I have seen some photos of them in Afghanistan wearing Multicam.
From what I have read and seen Delta wears whatever is appropriate for the mission, be it a uniform and armor or civilian clothes with low profile equipment.
Unlike DEVGRU Delta Force, CAG, ACE or whatever name they are going by now does a better job of keeping themselves out of the spotlight. That may be a reason that we have been seeing more SEAL figures and not too many Delta figures.

Any refetence in that timeframe, 2003 being an example... but as usual, i added a lot of unnecesary gibberish.
Thanks!

Re: What-ever happened to Delta from 1993-2004ish?
2003 - From photos, other personal sources and to repeat goaltendah, they wear a variety of uniforms based on the mission and utility.
Uniforms - Civies, DCUs, or BDUs would all be appropriate. From a Ranger reg't friend he worked with some in choclate chip camo in Iraq. Shemaghs were becoming common. Uniforms would typically be spec ops modified (pockets on shoulders, typically black velcro on pocket flap or pocket avoid both) Glint tape back then was silver
Weapons - M4s, Caspian .45s, MAYBE an HK Mk23, peq2 laser pointer, ACOG/M68 CCO
Headgear - MICH, shemagh, boonie
Body armor - variety. Soft base layer with plates over it. Spears style. early Paraclete models (black and woodland), Molle was just coming in but you might have a guy or two with a vest with sewn pockets or even a ranger rack over body armor.
Boots - GSG 9, hiking boots, merrels, desert boots (2nd gen)
Hope that helps...

Re: What-ever happened to Delta from 1993-2004ish?
So pretty much an Art figures Seal + DAM Delta would be a good base?
WBDU+GSG9s+DAM VEST+ART1911+ART RIG+ART M4+DAM M68?
As for the MICH 2000, yeah I have a few...
One thing I noted about your post was the Caspian 1911, I don't think DAM's 1911 will cut it as it's the older A1 model, so I suppose it would be a good guess to say that Deltas in that time-frame would have switched to Novak style sights? (I don't believe in the Mk. 23, thank you).
As for the M4, the art figures one attracts me since the Vltor stock was introduced in that time frame and I assume it would have been popular among Delta gun nuts once it went civvie legal (or the other way around)...
Hm, now that I think about it, I've seen a couple of books discussed about Operation Anaconda and Operation Redwing, but no books have been discussed on Delta ops, is there any book I should get in order to know in what kind of environments they where deployed besides Iraq and the type of ops they carried on?
(I assume, that with those 2 sets, I could assemble and all around versatile and passable Delta)
Thanks major.rod and goaltendah1.

After 2003, it's my understanding that CAG mostly took ops in Iraq, while the SEALs took Afghanistan.

Re: What-ever happened to Delta from 1993-2004ish?
That figure by Dam would be ok. I don't like the black soft armor or plate carrier. Even though I've heard reports of it being used it's hard to believe they'd be using it ten years after Moghadishu. Would most likely change the armor underneath the vest to something more modern for the period.
Ditch the protech for sure as well as the fixed carry handle M4. The GSG9's would go better with BDUs. Having worn black boots in a desert environment I can tell you they were HOT.
Additional soures? "Kill Bin Laden" by Dalton Fury (former CAG commander). "Inside Delta Force" by Haney (another CAG dude and the tech advisor in the series "The Unit").
Those are off the top of my head. Glad I could help a little.

Those are pretty cool. Captions or at least a date would be very helpful to those that don't know the equipment/uniforms as well as some of us.

Will,
I put captions and dates to the ones I was sure of. I also added a YouTube video of a Delta hostage rescue that I found on YouTube.

Yes, those where great help, for a current Delta (I just call them that, until I'm more lectured)
I do appreciate the effort Jeff & Will, that was why I started this thread.
C-C I was reading thru the SS seal thread and found out about it pretty much before you posted it, either way, it's better for it to be here than in the seal thread.
Also, those Coffee stain Crye pants are pure threaded awesome...
